About Me

  • The name Zeekandobi is a butchered combination of my two horses' names; Ezekiel and Obadiah. Actually, Obadiah belongs to Taterhead but since I am the primary (Only!) funding source, it kind of makes him mine too!

  • Phantom on the 4th

This past weekend, little Taterhead and I went to see the Phantom of the Opera for her birthday. I do not necessarily care for musicals; it always bothers me when in the middle of a spoken dialogue, one of the characters will just start singing. This does not meld with my practical, reasonable, logical way of thinking. A song in the middle of a conversation is distracting!

I decided that I would move out of my preferred realm of operation and take a chance on The Phantom. Even though I knew the storyline and had seen the movie version, the live performance was indescribable; it absolutely blew me away.

The powerful compositions caused my breathing to increase as my pulse raced along with the flow of emotion and energy. “Angel of Music” was the perfect name for the Phantom’s character; several times, I found myself spellbound by his performance. The fireworks later in the evening paled in comparison.

It was well worth the ticket price and I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. It may be a little too intense for some younger children but otherwise, get the kids out from in front of the video games, leave the iPods at home and go see the Phantom of the Opera!

  • Met a Politician The Other Night

I stopped at a gas station in Mounds on the way home earlier this week. Across the pumps was a guy in a white Mercedes, which look really out of place in a town of 1300 people. I first thought he might be a drug dealer. As soon as the driver exited, I recognized right away, he was not a drug dealer, far worse, he was a lawyer turned politician!

In spite of his OSU license plate, I struck up a conversation with him about the cost of gas, a few people we both happen to know, where I lived, and eventually got around to mentioning that I had spotted a wolf not far from my house. He seemed a bit skeptical so I also mentioned that I had a picture of black cougar babies taken in Murray County. Not overly convinced of my claims, he was still cordial and we continued a little longer in our small talk. As we parted, I assured him that I would send the photo of the "panthers" to him via e-mail. The next day, I looked him up in the OK State House directory and promptly sent the picture.

I have not heard back from him but that's okay. It's not like I am devastated about being snubbed by an OSU associated, Mercedes driving, lawyer.

(Mark, if you happen to read this, I hope you understand that it is all in fun. Well, mostly anyway!)

    BOOMER SOONER!!!

  • The Latest

Sunday was Taterhead's birthday- Wow! 16 already, it hardly seems possible. Big shin-dig planned in Foyil next weekend to celebrate. She is working on a devious plot to start a water fight by dousing several unsuspecting victims. Beware all who venture outside the house.
